Gather round for a story of about innovation and success.
Debbie was telling me about how the painters tap on the base plate of the 3D printer was not working well. She thought that some hair spray may fix that. Yesterday when I was viewing the 3D printer, I decided to try putting simple Scotch tape down to see how that would work. It turns out that it works really well. You can pick the objects off by hand no problem and no stick. It actually works a little too well. You have to be careful not to bump the objects and need a raft to start many of them. I recommend only putting Scotch tape in the very center of the build plate if you are going to try using it. That way it can grip the painters tap to start, but can build on the Scotch Tap and easily be removed.
After the tour in Kingston on Saturday where the humidity was after three hours creating problems for builds adhering to the plate, I discovered that while scotch-tape is good, double-sided scotch tape is even better!
