Success Story #1:
I had a 12-year-old girl come in to the Berwick C@P site
last month for a 1-on-1 about Facebook. Her parents wanted her to learn about
Facebook, particularly about safety and privacy and write an essay before
allowing her to get an account. She showed up with lots of questions which we
went through and I showed her how to use it and provided her with information
on Facebook and Internet safety for teens to take home to her parents. I felt
it was successful because she left the library with the facts she needed to
write her essay and it provided her parents with facts to inform their decision
about Facebook as well. It was interesting for me too because people sometimes ask me about Facebook safety and whether teens should be on it which is a touchy subject but I
learned more about the safety and privacy aspect of it myself during my 1-on-1.
Success Story #2:
I assisted a woman last month in connecting her laptop to
wireless internet because she was having trouble figuring out how to set up her
D-link device with her laptop. She was really pleased about successfully being
able to connect to networks from that point on because she needed to use the
internet as part of her business to fill orders and e-mail customers and so on.
Great story Ronni about the safety and privacy of Facebook. Did you put together a handout that would be of benefit to all sites to have?
ReplyDeleteI just have a handout made on Facebook basics but I can put together a little summary handout on Facebook safety before Friday!
