Hey, I was just showing Debbie an alternative search engine to Google, and she told me to share it on the blog. The site is DuckDuckGo (http://duckduckgo.com/), and it is the search engine I have been using for months. The search results are less cluttered and have less advertisements. The developer (it's just one guy) is anti data tracking, so the searches you make are never tracked like they are with Google (http://donttrack.us/).
Another useful feature is the !bang syntax. To cut down on search time, you can type ! followed by a key word to directly access that sites search feature. For example, searching (!yt cats) would take you into the YouTube search for cats. Here is a list of all !bangs (http://duckduckgo.com/bang.html)
This search engine is the one I use as my default, and is a great alternative to Google search.
I like google, but I really like the look of this search engine. Also, really like how it does not record personal information. This is impressive for being made by one person. Will have to try it out some more.
