I have been trying to listen for new expressions and I remember now that one lady who comes in for one-on-one computer tutorials each week says to me "you must be bored out of your skull" (meaning extremely bored). She says this as I help her delete a couple of emails or add a few contacts! I always enjoy her company as we review these things!
I found a website that has a lot of expressions: http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/gswithenbank/sayindex.htm
From this website I found a few expressions that I knew and have not heard for quite awhile:
1. Back to square one - back to where one started, having wasted time.
2. Between a rock and a hard place - to have no good alternatives.
3. Leave no stone unturned - search everywhere, try by all means
4. Few and far between
One of the ones I had never heard before:
Between you, me and the gatepost - between ourselves, in confidence
