Meaghan MacFarlane
SYI Coordinator/ Upper Vaughan
Hey everyone! My name is Meaghan and I am the Summer Youth
Intern Coordinator for the Kings-West Hants C@P Association. I’ve been working
for C@P for four years now and have worked as a Coordinator for three summers.
I’ve also worked as an intern for four terms in total in Windsor, Hantsport and
Truro. I studied Psychology at Mount Allison University for three years until I
realized that I didn’t want to do a PhD. I just finished my first year of
Business Administration at NSCC Truro and will be going back in the fall to
complete the program. I absolutely love it! I’m an avid reader so all you
interns who work in the libraries, you will see me in there a lot. Besides
that, I spend a lot of time at a horse barn in Port Williams where I am a
stable hand and trainer.
I absolutely love this job, and hope that you all will too. Let’s
make this summer as great as it can possibly be!
Dougal Armour
Upper Vaughan
Hi all! It’s me, also known as him
or that guy being choked. Now you may be asking (though you are probable not)
who is this guy and why am I still reading this? Well you see, I am just your
average dedicated C@P youth intern much like your selves. I am going back to
Acadia University this year. My interests are Anime, video games, Mix Martial
Arts (MMA), drawing and more Anime. A computer once beat me at Chess, but it
was no match for me at kick boxing. I come from the dark and depressing
wasteland which some dare to call the town of Windsor (is actually a great town). I hope
you found this bio some what amusing and look forward to seeing you all at
orientation. ;p
Emily Fuller
Kingsport
Hey everyone! My name is Emily Fuller; I come from the
beautiful little community of White Rock, just outside of Wolfville. I was born
on July 9, 1993. I have two siblings who unfortunately are both going to be way
taller than me, unfortunately my dad’s families height gene skipped me and left
me at five foot five, my brother is literally a foot taller than me!
I graduated from Horton High school in 2011 and then lived
my dream and went on an exchange program and lived in Zurich, Switzerland for a
year, it was awesome! I got to meet amazing people and I even got to travel to
Paris, Austria, Germany, Italy and India…India was really cool! After coming
home from such an amazing time I attended Mount Allison University where I just
completed my first year of university, and will be going back for my second
year this September, I’m a history major with a philosophy minor, and I love
it! I want to travel the world so badly, I love seeing new things and meeting
new people all the time! Also I’m a huge collector of postcards and pins, a
Disney movie lover, and also a huge super hero fan, the Hulk is my favorite! also a huge Eminem fan, and I love playing
sports and especially love to run and jog, baseball is my favorite sport by
far, I love to play and watch……go Yankees! So there’s a bit of my life in a nutshell!
Keshia Laffin
Hantsport
My name is Keshia
Laffin and I’m the youth intern at the Hantsport Library for the summer. I have spent the last six years of my life at
Acadia University. I graduated in 2011 with
a Bachelor of Arts in Music and then completed my Bachelor of Elementary Education,
graduating this past May. I enjoy
anything related to music (concerts, performing, listening, etc.) and hope to
be hired as an elementary music teacher in the near future. My main instrument is the flute but I can
also play piano (which I hope to continue learning this summer). In my spare time you can most likely find me
spending time with my friends and family.
This is my first summer working as a youth intern for C@P and I’m really
looking forward to it!
Chika Chiekwe
VANSDA
Hi Everyone! This is my second summer as a
C@P Youth Intern. I am working out of the VANSDA office in Kentville. I am from
Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia... yes home of Sidney Crosby! This year I am entering
my fourth and final year at Acadia University and I am on the women’s
basketball team. I am studying Business Administration with a major in
Accounting. This Fall I am applying to Law school to further my career to
become a Business Lawyer.
Caitlin Ward
Halls Harbour
Hey there! My name is Caitlin Ward. I am working at the Hall's Harbour c@p site this summer. I am a returning summer youth intern...this is my fourth year and I love it. I live in Hall's Harbour so walking to work and talking to my community members is nice. I go to Acadia University and I have been majoring in environmental sustainability studies, with a minor in women's gender studies. I hope to finish up this year but I am thinking this is going to be a five year experience. I love the valley, movies, social media sites, batman, big bang theory and hanging out with friends. I hope you all have a great summer working with c@p like I always do.

Rebecca Pineo
Windsor
Rebecca Pineo, a resident of Centreville, NS has just completed her second degree at Acadia University. She first took an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, and then her education degree in which she specialized in elementary education and physical education. Her passion is learners, life long learning and bringing those two things together. She coaches soccer, volleyball and basketball. She stays active herself through yoga, swimming and beach volleyball. She is looking forward to returning to the Windsor Library and meeting lots of new people!
Lindsay Jacquard
Wolfville
Hi there! I’m Lindsay Jacquard, and I’m the intern at the Wolfville Memorial Library C@P Lab. I grew up in Port Williams, where I did the library summer programs as a kid! I’m a second year student at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where I’m majoring in Fine Art and minoring in Paper, Print and Book. Basically, I like painting and printmaking, but I’ve experimented with different practices all over the board! Other than art, I like cooking lots of food (because I love to eat), sewing, hot weather and cats (particularly my own kitty, Zip.) My daily attire borders on ‘fancy’, probably because I don’t like pants.
Dustin Hein
Port Williams/Kentville
Hi, my name is Dustin Hein, and I am the C@P Youth Intern at the Port Williams and Kentville Libraries. I am a graduate of the Information Technology program at NSCC with a concentration in Systems Administration, and have worked in the Web Development industry for a number of years.
In my spare time I enjoy skateboarding and playing video games - namely StarCraft 2. I am also attempting to establish myself as a freelance Web Developer in the Annapolis Valley, so I spend a fair amount of time working on websites and studying for my A+ certification, in hopes of someday becoming a certified PC technician.
I was given the opportunity to work as C@P Youth Intern this past Winter, and found it to be a rewarding and enjoyable work term. I am hoping that I can take what I have learned from past experience and continue to offer helpful and exciting programs to my community throughout the Summer!Arielle Sherman
Kingston/Berwick
I was born on May 22, 1992. I grew up in Somerset and then
moved to Aylesford where I still reside. I graduated from West Kings District
High School in 2010. During high school I played rugby, participated in the
school plays and I played in all of the school bands and two provincial bands
as well. I was also in French immersion from grade 7-11.
In March of 2010 I traveled to Ireland and it was amazing. I
stayed in Cork, traveled around the mountain side to Kerry and took a train up
to Dublin. I was actually there for Saint Patrick’s Day and there is nothing
like spending it in Ireland. I dream of going back, hopefully sooner than
later! The sites really do not compare to anywhere else.
I have just finished my third year at the Dalhousie
Agricultural Campus, formerly known as the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. I
am studying Animal Science with the hopes of getting in to pharmacy, for
humans, not animals! If not this year, I will finish my degree this coming
September. I play rugby at the college and volunteer at the RAC (Ruminant
Animal Center, a barn). I enjoy music, reading, riding horses and playing
rugby. I have a dog, Shadow. He is an English springer spaniel and takes up
most of my time when I am home. Over the summer I plan to barrel race and pole
bend as much as I can when I am not working!
