“Maker Camp week 2” – We hosted for our second week of maker camp, the rocket powered car. The project called for balloons, straws, tape and a car with moving wheels. It gave suggestions of lego and other people who created this project used other toy cars. We used dinky cars from the dollar store, and we drew the kids names from a hat to get first choice. We watched the video from the google + maker camp online and set up our camp as a challenge. We were going to see who could create the fastest car. We had other materials such a Popsicle sticks, which enabled the kids to manipulate their position of the balloon. The “campers” needed help getting started with tape, and getting the balloon secured to the straw. We took most of the time trial and error with perfecting their racecars. Then once almost all of the campers experienced some success we raced. Overall it was a good session with lots of cute moments and even a winner~
