My Summer with C@P
1. Looking back how would you describe your summer with C@P?
My summer with C@P was great. As a book nerd, assignment loving, newly certified teacher.. I have been thrilled to help out in the Kentville and Port Williams library doing tutorials, kids sessions, and adult workshops. I found some days to be very quiet, particularly in the Port Williams location, but that is to be expected in the small community. However, I have met some great individuals and made the most of the summer experience!
2.What did you get out of this summer?
This summer I came to realize being of this generation we have a huge amount of computer skills that we really almost take for granted as there are some people who do not have the access to computers and technology that we have had, and so some of the most basic computer tasks are completely new to new, or inexperienced technology users. I have come to realize how fortunate I have been to have so much access to technology, and to know how it works, and where things can be applied in day to day life. I think that also working with people in the community is always a great opportunity to get to know new people, hear some new things and listen to some great stories! I also had the opportunity to do lots of reading, and picked up some new computer skills along the way.
3. What did you think of the higher ups?
Meaghan has been fantastic this summer, I knew that whenever I was unsure about something, or couldn't figure something out she quickly eased my mind. (I'm a worrier) I really appreciate everything she's done for me/us this summer!
Debbie has also been absolutely fantastic, I was fortunate to do 3 workshops with her, and we've had some really great conversations! We discussed maybe starting up a book club! So, if anyone else is interested in being book buddies with us, that'd be swell!!
I also couldn't be happier with Julie (Kentville), Sue (Port Williams) and Charlotte's help all summer. Great, great people to spend a summer working with :)

4.What could C@P do better next summer?
Maybe a few additional projects to work on during downtime, or optional additional projects for the C@P sites that do have additional downtime. I know some C@P sites are busier than others. :)
5. What should C@P do again next summer?
Have interns :) Continue to find new ways to reach the community and promote the program.
I think that C@P is a really important, and worthwhile thing, and it's tough to see it not getting the treatment or funding that it should. Unfortunately, it is difficult when people are not taking advantage of the resources we have available, and some of that has to do with people thinking that C@P is already dead and gone. We need to breathe more life into it, and keep it going as much as we can. With fabulous, dynamic people who can stand behind it.

Thanks for the feed back Sally.
