Although this didn't happen today, I had fully intended on sharing it and today will be the day that I do. It's been a slow Friday, library opened up at 2, and we have one person in the corner using a computer with headphones in.
ANYWAY-- This actually happened on C@P day which makes it even better. An older lady came in to the library and went straight to the librarian to ask for computer help, she was then in turn sent to me. She said she hadn't had the laptop very long, but try as she may at her apartment, she couldn't log on to the wireless and was worried it was the computer itself. We sat down and tried to connect to the internet. On the first try there was some kind of guest login that popped up, and I couldn't figure out what it was. Then when I looked for the Port Williams library network connection, she was logged into something else. So, we quickly got her connected to the lib's wireless and had her well on her way.
About a half an hour later, she came back to me telling me that her password for the library site wasn't working (last 4 digits of the phone number) So I went over and made sure she was in fact requiring to log in again, and she was. I asked her if she minded trying those 4 digits one more time. When she did, it logged in no trouble!! She jokingly asked me if I could just stand there for the rest of her time surfing as her good luck charm to maintain the connection. She was a sweetheart, and thrilled to have help--more thrilled that it was nothing to do with her laptop itself and will see if she can get the router that provides her internet connection to reset so she can once again enjoy wireless at home. :)
